Chase Announces Updated Sapphire Reserve Card
After months of speculation, Chase has confirmed that it will unveil a refreshed version of the Chase Sapphire Reserve Card, along with a new business variant, in the upcoming weeks.
The official release is scheduled for “This Summer,” starting on Friday, June 20th.
A marketing campaign launched in New York City showcased the new cards, giving a sneak peek at the redesigned Sapphire Reserve cards, even though they primarily used social media for promotion.
Chase seems poised to roll out these updated cards just as summer kicks off. This timing could be beneficial, especially if you’re planning a summer trip and are interested in the new card designs.
While Chase hasn’t revealed specifics about the changes to the Sapphire Reserve Card or the details of the business version, rumors suggest some significant alterations may be on the horizon.
It appears there may be a rise in annual fees for the Sapphire Reserve; currently, the fee stands at $550, but updates may lead to an increase.
You’ll want to compare this potential fee with those of top cards from Capital One, which charges $395 for the Venture X Rewards Credit Card, and American Express, which is at $695 for the Platinum® Card.
Interestingly, there’s a trend where issuers, including Chase, often offset fee increases by introducing new lifestyle perks and statement credits. It’ll be interesting to see if this approach is part of the upcoming changes.
If you currently have a Sapphire card or are thinking about getting one, it might be wise to wait for Chase’s announcement before making any decisions. Typically, card issuers provide users a grace period to evaluate new offerings before implementing major changes. It would be surprising if Chase rolled out a new card without first notifying existing customers.
Furthermore, the introduction of new cards typically comes with attractive welcome bonuses, so I’ll be keeping an eye out for what Chase has in store this summer.
