Something old, something new, something borrowed, something…cool?
A Long Island chef cooked for Queens hip-hop icon LL Cool J on his wedding night after the latter made a surprise appearance at his reception.
Salvatore Sorrentino – Chef and Owner Rosalyn's Italian Restaurant 388 — and bride Gina Sorrentino were married on Monday and reportedly returned to the popular restaurant for dinner with friends and family after the ceremony.
However, when the couple arrived at the Italian venue, they found Fat Joe and DJ Khaled already in a private room at 388 celebrating the birthday of Fat Joe's manager, Rich Player.
Music fans are flocking to Long Island this week as the 2024 MTV Video Music Awards are set to take place at UBS Arena near Elmont, New York.
However, the wedding celebrations came to an end with the arrival of another unexpected guest.
A source later told Page Six, “Just as the newlyweds were getting ready to leave, a Sprinter van arrived and out of it climbed another music legend, LL Cool J.”
At that point, Sorrentino, the groom, a foodie, “without hesitation” traded his custom tuxedo for a chef's coat and reopened the kitchen to prepare a meal for LL and staff.
The source also spoke about the musical “Intruder,” saying, “All the stars congratulated the couple and wished them a long and happy life together.”
The insider added, “The restaurant had just closed when LL arrived… Sal never turns down someone who wants to eat!”
“It was an unforgettable night,” a source said.
Photos from the night include big-name producer DJ Khaled posing with the bride and groom, as well as a group shot of Khaled, Fat Joe and Rich Prayer gathered in the wedding party.
“Mama Said Knock You Out” rapper LL Cool J (aka James Todd Smith III) also posed for photos wearing, naturally, a red ball cap, stylish grey loose pants, a hoodie and a chain.
Sorrentino comes from a family of restaurateurs, and his biography says he “followed in the footsteps of his parents, who ran more than 10 restaurants.” He started out as a dishwasher as a teenager and worked his way up the ranks.
Also in attendance at the wedding were 388 partners Chris Tsarsi, Matthew Sorrentino and Joe Giovanni.
LL Cool J is also promoting his 14th studio album, “The Force.”
The rapper will perform at Wednesday's VMAs alongside Chapel Rowan, Sabrina Carpenter, Halsey, Megan Thee Stallion, Lenny Kravitz, Shawn Mendes and Benson Boone.
Sorrentino's restaurants also have locations in Florida and are known to be destinations for celebrities and athletes, including Carmelo Anthony, Nelly and Mets star JD Martinez.
