Chelsea Handler Critiques Nicki Minaj at Critics Choice Awards
Comedian Chelsea Handler didn’t hold back at the Critics Choice Awards on Sunday, taking aim at rapper Nicki Minaj while also expressing her thoughts on Turning Point USA. Handler described the film “Sinners” as a “blockbuster” before mentioning Minaj in a rather pointed manner.
“You know, I haven’t been to any black people’s houses in a while, except for Nicki Minaj’s. But honestly, who would want to go there?” she quipped.
Minaj, for her part, made headlines last month when she attended Turning Point USA’s America Fest alongside Erica Kirke. Interestingly, Minaj, who has been known for her political contributions in the past, doesn’t shy away from expressing admiration for figures like former President Donald Trump, which has raised eyebrows among some of her liberal fans.
“I respect him a lot,” Minaj stated at an event last December, referring to Trump’s efforts to instill hope in people facing challenges. It’s a sentiment that certainly adds layers to her public persona.
At the Critics Choice event, as Handler concluded her remarks with a nearly empty glass in hand, she thanked everyone involved, from the critics to the staff and Turning Point USA, founded by Charlie Kirk. “Thanks to the critics, staff, E! Network, and Turning Point USA,” she mentioned before wrapping up her segment.
Handler also drew attention to Warner Bros. Discovery’s CEO, David Zaslav, when discussing “Sinners.” She joked about the film’s plot, which involves brothers launching an entertainment venue that gets overtaken by vampires. “Fun fact: the original name of the main vampire was David Zaslav,” she noted, seemingly a jab at the Netflix production group.
