Cher is reflecting on her second marriage and what went wrong.
The singer reflected on her relationship with Gregg Allman and why she immediately said “I do” in her bestselling book, Cher: The Memoir, Part 1.
According to the book, Cher's divorce from ex-husband Sonny Bono was finalized in June 1975, when Cher had already started dating.
Now 78, she admitted she had some hesitation about her blossoming romance with the Allman Brothers Band singer.

“I didn't know if my relationship with Gregory would last,” Starr wrote. people magazine on wednesday.
“I lived each day as it came,” she said. “Then I found out I was pregnant and decided to get married.”
According to the newspaper, Cher wanted to get married after having children.

“I just kept putting one foot in front of the other,” Cher wrote, as quoted by the paper. “The future is not written in stone. I did what I thought was right.”
The book says Cher's sister Georgine “Gee” and her friend Paulette looked at her “as if he had gone into another world” after she told him she was ready to get married. It is written that it was. In response, Cher said, “Okay, let's do this.”
The paper noted that the wedding took place just days after Cher and Bono's divorce.
“There was nothing romantic about our wedding day,” the Oscar winner admitted.

”[I] told him on the phone, “I'm tired of doing this, Gregory.'' It was very tiring going to rehab with you,” she recalled, as quoted by the paper. “But I will continue,” he said quietly.
“His answer was so true that I stopped,” Cher continued. “He kept going to rehab, kept trying to get clean, kept trying despite his past failures. In that moment, instead of thinking about my own fatigue, I empathized with him.”
Scheer wrote that her “breaking point” came one night after Allman had a “paranoid breakdown.”

“Greg didn't really want to talk about Cher,” Paul said. “People took that to mean they didn't like her or were aggressive towards her. I don't think that was ever the case. I think it was the other way around.”
Paul said that looking at their marriage, it was clear that neither of them were prepared for what was to come.
“Greg had a full-blown drug addiction at the time and was struggling to overcome it,” he explained. “He's been in and out of rehab several times. There were times when he was able to overcome it. He was very open about it. Cher was a 16-, 17-year-old She had been a celebrity in Hollywood for some time, but she didn't understand what that meant.”

“At some point early in their relationship, Greg said to her, 'Go home now. Think of it as a trip to Disneyland. It was fun while it lasted. Now go home,'” Paul said. . “He didn't want to tell her he was an addict. Cher is completely devastated, angry and devastated. In her mind, everything is fine. She's basically like, 'What the hell is going on?'
Paul claimed that Allman “cried for nearly an hour” before he mustered up the courage to tell her, “I'm a drug addict.”
“The good news is that I'm crazy about you, but the bad news is that I have a problem,” he told her.
“I don't care,” Cher reportedly said, “It's okay, we can overcome it.”

“You don't understand,” he begged. “I'm going to steal your mom's TV.”
Paul claimed Cher was convinced it was an obstacle they could overcome together.

“Her response was, 'That's fine, it's a problem, we'll solve it,'” he explained. “She understood it as a problem, but she thought that if she went to the doctor and went to rehab, it would get better. She didn't understand…and Greg was very open about it. “The beginning of their relationship was overshadowed by his drug use.”
The second part of Cher's memoir is scheduled to be published in 2025.
