A 12-year-old boy robbed a 48-year-old man in Chicago, Illinois, early Thursday morning, police said.
He was one of a group of three other juveniles accused of robbing the victim near the University of Illinois at Chicago (UIC) campus, CWB Chicago. report Thursday.
The juveniles reportedly implied they had guns when the incident happened in the 1200 block of South Halsted. Officers found the juveniles a few blocks away from the scene.
After the victim identified them as suspects, officers arrested the juveniles.
“In addition to the 12-year-old boy, a 13-year-old boy and two 15-year-old boys were charged with robbery. Police said the 13-year-old boy was in possession of an imitation handgun. All boys were released from the police station to their parents,” the news agency reported.
Social media users shared their thoughts on the incident. write“Their parents should be prosecuted. If they have children, it is their responsibility to look after them until they reach 18. If they are irresponsible, they should be jailed or fined. Parents only get involved if it affects them too.”

In a separate case involving a minor in Chicago, a 14-year-old boy was accused of going on a crime spree while associating with a group that targeted multiple individuals, Breitbart News reported on July 19.
The group is accused of taking and robbing four people in West Irving Park, and a 14-year-old boy is also accused of trying to take a woman’s car in June and then stealing it.
In March 2023, a 17-year-old boy from Chicago was arrested on suspicion of hijacking and kidnapping after he allegedly crashed into a police vehicle, according to Breitbart News.
On July 15, the outlet reported that at least 36 people had been shot that weekend in Chicago, under Mayor Brandon Johnson (Democrat), six of them fatally.
