Chicago police have identified the suspect believed to have shot and killed Officer Luis Huesca last week as the investigation entered its seventh day Sunday.
Chicago police announced Friday that an arrest warrant has been issued for Xavier L. Tate Jr., a 22-year-old man from Aurora.
Tate is charged with first-degree murder in the shooting that occurred just before 3 a.m. April 21 in the 3100 block of West 56th Street in the Gage Park neighborhood.
Mr Tate remains at large and police say he should be considered armed and dangerous.

Huesca was driving home while still in uniform when he was shot multiple times near his family’s home in Gage Park. According to officials, FOX32 Chicago Huesca was shot nearly 20 times with what appeared to be a firearm equipped with a “switch” to turn it into an automatic weapon.

Fox News Digital earlier reported that Huesca’s car was stolen during the incident and was found nearby a short time later, but police would not confirm whether the shooting was part of a carjacking.
Officials said the officer’s military weapon and badge were not found at the scene. Chicago Sun-Times.
More than 20 senior D.C. police officers will be fired.Some of them were suspected of serious misconduct.
On Monday, police released two minutes of surveillance video that shows the suspect walking inside the convenience store and on the sidewalk outside.

Tate was previously arrested on March 6 on suspicion of trespassing at a residence in Olympia Fields. FOX32 reported. Citing court documents. He was scheduled to appear in court for the case Wednesday.
Police have announced a total reward of $100,000 for information leading to Tate’s arrest and conviction. Funding is provided by Crime Stoppers, the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms, the FBI, and the Fraternal Order of Police.
Huesca worked for the Chicago Police Department for six years. He was supposed to celebrate his 31st birthday on Tuesday.
