A 61-year-old Chicago woman is brain dead and may not have much time left to live after being robbed on a train, prosecutors said.
The suspect in the case is an eight-time felon who is on parole for another robbery involving a police officer, CWB Chicago reported. report Wednesday.
“Judge William Fahey granted the state's petition to detain Mijawon Johnson, 36, as a threat to public safety during a hearing in Layton Criminal Court. State officials also requested that his parole be revoked. “It's moving,” the newspaper reported.

Johnson was apparently caught on surveillance video allegedly trying to steal a woman's bag while riding the Red Line on January 4.
He is accused of repeatedly punching the woman in the head and stomach and stomping on her body before getting off the train.
The victim was placed on a ventilator after being found unresponsive. Prosecutors say she is brain dead and she is not expected to live very long.

The suspect was identified and taken into custody after officers spotted him riding a Chicago Transit Authority bus.
He is currently charged with two counts of aggravated assault as well as attempted murder in the incident.
“Prosecutors also charged him with violating a protection order for allegedly entering a 27-year-old woman's Old Town residence after being ordered to stay home on New Year's Eve,” CWB Chicago reported.
The suspect served part of his sentence in 2021 for robbing a drug enforcement officer and was released on parole in August. At the time, the suspect was on parole for aggravated assault on a law enforcement officer.
According to CWB Chicago, records from the Illinois Department of Corrections show that the suspect has been sentenced to prison multiple times over the years on drug charges.

According to Breitbart News, progressive Mayor Brandon Johnson said in December that murders and shootings were down in the city, and that “repairs and reparations” were needed to “fix the violence” plaguing city residents. He claimed that it helps to deal with “chains”.
