Chick-fil-A employees save 6-year-old girl after dad was drunk driving

A quick-thinking employee at a Chick-fil-A in New Jersey may have saved a 6-year-old girl from danger, police said.

A male driver loaded his 6-year-old daughter into his pickup truck and headed to the drive-thru of a fast food restaurant in Turnersville.

One of the officers allegedly distracted the daughter from seeing her father being arrested.

Acting quickly, Chick-fil-A employees allegedly noticed the smell of alcohol coming from the drive-thru driver and also noticed a young child in his car.

“They could smell alcohol on his breath and could see alcohol in the vehicle,” said Washington Township Police Chief Patrick Grushik. WTXF-TV.

Inside the vehicle were open beer cans, as well as 30 packs of beer and a garbage bag filled with empty alcohol containers, the report said.

A female Chick-fil-A employee smelled alcohol and alerted a manager, who then called police.

To prevent the driver from getting back on the road and potentially causing an accident, Chick-fil-A employees reportedly instructed the driver to stop and wait for commands.

While waiting for our food, a police officer arrived at the restaurant within 5 minutes and approached the driver before he left.

Chief Grushik noted that the man was “very cooperative” with law enforcement.

Upon arriving at the Chick-fil-A, police conducted a field sobriety test, which the driver failed. The driver reportedly underwent a breathalyzer test and was found to have a blood alcohol concentration of 0.16 (twice the legal limit).

In police body camera footage, the driver can be heard telling the officer, “I was just trying to get home and go to bed.”

Police arrested the driver.

Officers continued to feed the 6-year-old girl until her grandfather arrived to pick her up.

“It could have been a tragic ending for other families and for this family. Saturday night, we basically helped them by getting him off the road,” Grushik said. he said.

A manager at the Chick-fil-A restaurant in Turnersville declined to comment to WTXF.
