Rep. Dan Goldman (D-New York) said Monday on Fox News Channel’s “Special Report” that President Donald Trump is “too much of a coward” to appear in the Sept. 10 presidential debate.
“In terms of the debate, do you think it’s going to be just one? Do you think she’d agree to other debates? Have you heard anything from inside the campaign?” anchor Bret Baier asked.
“If Donald Trump hadn’t been so timid about going on September 10th, which he would have agreed to, Vice President Harris would be happy to debate after that,” Goldman said. “If I were Donald Trump, I would understand why he wouldn’t want to debate. Kamala Harris is a former prosecutor. She’s very strong.”
“He’s accepted three of them. He agreed with Sept. 4, Sept. 10 and Sept. 17. He agreed with a lot of them. So he’s clearly not afraid of debate,” Baier said.
Goldman responded, “No, no. He had agreed to air it on ABC on September 10th.”
“With Biden being kicked out,” Baier said.
“What’s different? Why not have the debate on September 10th as agreed upon, regardless of who the nominee is?” Goldman said.
“Okay,” Baier said.
“What’s the difference between Biden and Harris?” Goldman asked.
“No, it’s OK. He said he would. He agreed to the other debates. He agreed. It’s the Kamala Harris campaign that hasn’t agreed to the objections,” Beier said.
“No, no. If he’s going to appear at the debate that’s scheduled for September 10th, he should appear. I can’t trust Donald Trump to appear at anything. He’s going to speak on Fox on September 4th, meet his supporters in the audience and then say he’s not going to do any more debates. You can’t trust Donald Trump,” Goldman said.
