Coach Andy Reid said the team will not limit Rice’s participation pending the results of the investigation.
“We’re waiting for the enforcement portion to happen and we’ll go from there,” Reed said in April. CBS“The important thing is whether he learns (from the accident) or not. We’ll see where it goes from there.”
If any of the allegations are found to be true by law enforcement, Rice faces significant legal consequences.
“Rice faces eight criminal charges, including assault and assault with serious bodily injury, stemming from a high-speed hit-and-run crash that occurred in Dallas on March 30,” CBS reported.
Rice is facing civil charges in connection to the crash and is under investigation by Dallas police for assault resulting in bodily injury, but has not been arrested in the case.
The NFL is also investigating Rice and could face a suspension for his actions.
The Chiefs selected Rice in the second round of the 2023 NFL Draft and he was part of the team that won Super Bowl 55 during his rookie year.
