Thompson, a second-year player from Stephen F. Austin, was in a special teams meeting on the final day of overtime activities when the incident occurred. Team medical staff immediately treated Thompson and he was taken by ambulance to the hospital, where he remains.
The Chiefs canceled all remaining team activities following the incident.
