Chiefs give injury update on Patrick Mahomes after getting shaken up in win over Browns

The Kansas City Chiefs picked up another win on Sunday, this time on the road against the Cleveland Browns, but they couldn't have done it without an injury to quarterback Patrick Mahomes.

Carson Wentz was replaced in the final minutes of the fourth quarter after Mahomes was crushed on a pass.

On a fourth-down play to extend the drive, Mahomes pounced on a pass attempt to one of his receivers just as Browns defensive lineman Dalvin Tomlinson was diving to tackle him.

When Tomlinson made the tackle, Tomlinson wrapped Mahomes' ankles under him, but Mike Hall Jr. also hit Mahomes above the waist, causing him to arch backwards.

After taking the nasty hit, Mahomes began limping off the field to avoid injuring his right ankle, which immediately felt pain.

After the game, Chiefs head coach Andy Reid provided an update on the status of the franchise's signal caller.

“My right ankle is injured,” he told reporters. “There's no fracture, but there's pain. He's going to start rehabilitation as he rehabs. We'll have to see how he does here.”

But, as Reid said, the Chiefs will know how long Mahomes will be out after further testing on Monday.
