Chiefs’ GM Dodges Wedding Question Amid Draft Preparations

As Kansas City Chiefs head coach Brett Veach gears up for the NFL Draft, he’s remaining tight-lipped about the rumored wedding of star player Travis Kelce. During a recent chat with ESPN at an NFL gathering in Arizona, Veach sidestepped inquiries regarding whether he was invited to Kelce’s wedding to pop star Taylor Swift.

“Let’s see,” Veach replied on the “Schrager Hour” podcast. “I couldn’t say either way.” He called the question particularly tricky.

Shifting focus quickly, Veach returned to discussing the draft, making it clear that wedding details were off the table. “You can ask me off the record who you chose to be in the nine. I’ll tell you my choices for the draft, but I can’t share anything about the wedding,” he insisted.

Kelce and Swift confirmed their engagement with a playful Instagram post, captioning a series of photos: “Your English teacher and gym teacher are getting married.” Multiple sources indicate the couple is set to tie the knot in Rhode Island on June 13.

Recently, Kelce re-signed with the Chiefs, agreeing to return for his 14th season. In a conversation on “The Pat McAfee Show,” he shared, “I still love this game. I still love going to work and putting on the pads and polishing my game.”

Back in February at the NFL Scouting Combine, Veach expressed hope for Kelce’s continued presence on the team, calling him an “icon.” He also noted, “Travis is great. He’s not your average 27-year-old.” With much on his plate, including the wedding, it seems some negotiations may take a bit longer. “There’s a timeline—but he’s also Travis Kelce,” Veach remarked.

Last season marked a turning point for the Chiefs, finally ending a 10-year playoff losing streak even after quarterback Patrick Mahomes faced a significant injury.
