Chiefs’ Harrison Butker Gives Jersey to Parade Shooting Victim to Be Buried In

Lisa Lopez Galvan, who was shot and killed during the Chiefs Super Bowl parade in Kansas City last week, will be buried wearing the jersey of her favorite player, Harrison Butker.

And the jersey was provided by Butker himself.

López-Galván was wearing a Butcar jersey last Wednesday when he tragically lost his life in a hail of gunfire that killed more than 20 people. López Galván’s husband wanted his wife to be buried in the jersey of her favorite player.

A family member took to social media to search for a white No. 7 Harrison Butker jersey for burial.

“#ChiefsKingdom We need your help…Lisa Lopez Galván’s son wants his mother to rest in peace wearing the white jersey @buttkicker7…that she wore on parade day It’s the same one I had. I can’t find it anywhere…does anyone know where I can look for it?”

The post has since been deleted, but it remained online long enough to attract attention from an official NFL retailer and someone who knows the Chiefs’ pastor, Father Richard Rocha.

That eventually led Butker to become aware of the family’s needs. Shortly thereafter, Butker sent jerseys to his family.

Like López-Galván, Butker is a devout Catholic and spoke of their shared faith in a statement.

“My wife Isabel and I are heartbroken by the decadent and violent murder of Lisa,” Butker said. “Murder is a crime that cries out to God for vengeance and we pray that those involved in this tragedy will be brought to justice. Hearing that she was a fan of her outspoken views on our common Catholic faith makes this even more personal.” I am honored to be able to provide the family with a jersey for her to wear. As the family grieves their loss and struggles with many injuries, I am honored to help them heal and honor Lisa’s spirit. I will continue to pray for your peace.”

A GoFundMe has been started to support López-Galván’s family through this tragedy.of fund With support from fellow Chiefs fan Taylor Swift, he donated $100,000 to the cause, beating the family’s original goal of $75,000.

As of this writing, the fund has more than $379,000.
