It’s been a busy offseason for the Chiefs for all the wrong reasons, and it’s continuing to be a busy one.
Defensive lineman Isaiah Buggs has found himself in trouble with the law again, charged with domestic violence and theft. According to ProFootballTalk.
Last month, Buggs, 27, was indicted on two misdemeanor counts of animal cruelty after turning himself in to Tuscaloosa police for abusing two dogs, one of which was euthanized.
Police reportedly issued an arrest warrant for Buggs on May 29 on two counts of second-degree animal cruelty, and he turned himself in to the Tuscaloosa County Jail the next day.
Police said a neighbor reported two dogs left in the backyard of a home rented by a Chiefs player, and when animal control arrived they found a white and gray pit bull and a black Rottweiler without food or water.
Agent Trey Robinson denied any wrongdoing and claimed the issue arose from an “ongoing campaign of vandalism” to force Buggs to close a hookah lounge he owns in Tuscaloosa.
Robinson said in a statement at the time that Buggs “does not condone animal cruelty of any kind” and that the dogs were not his and he was unaware they had been left on the property.
Buggs isn’t the only Chiefs player with off-field issues.
Trustee Ruthie Rice is facing eight felony charges in a street racing incident in Dallas and just weeks after he allegedly punched a photographer at a nightclub.
