Chiefs’ Rashee Rice allegedly hit photographer at nightclub

Laci Rice could face new legal problems.

Dallas police are investigating a Chiefs wide receiver for allegedly punching a cameraman at a local nightclub. WFAA reported Tuesday.

The incident happened in the early hours of Monday morning at an address associated with Lit Kitchen, and police are interviewing witnesses about the alleged assault.

One person was taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries and swelling on the side of his face. The Dallas Morning News reported.

Officers were dispatched around 2:30 a.m., and a law enforcement official confirmed to the Dallas Morning News that Rice was the suspect in the incident.

No charges have been filed in connection with the incident.

This latest incident comes on the heels of Rice already facing serious legal issues related to a multi-vehicle accident in Dallas in March that left two people hospitalized in the area. Authorities charged Rice and SMU Trustee Teddy Knox with eight people. This case counts as a felony.

Rice is also being sued by two of his victims, Irina Gromova and Edvard Petrovsky, seeking $10 million in damages.

“Despite his physical abilities and responsibilities as a public figure, Mr. Rice raced a high-performance vehicle on public roads in Dallas County, Texas, lost control, and in this cause killed several innocent people, including Plaintiff. ,” the lawsuit states in part. He said it was filed last month.

Rice turned himself in to authorities in April in connection with the felony and was released on bail.

Rice was cooperating with law enforcement investigating the accident, according to a statement from his attorney, Royce West.

“Mr. Rice acknowledges his actions and expresses his deepest condolences to those injured in this accident. Our legal team is currently tasked with reviewing all legal documents.” reads part of the statement.

Rice grew up in the Fort Worth suburb of North Richland Hills and played college football at SMU before being drafted by the Chiefs in the second round of the 2023 NFL Draft.

The Chiefs receiver had 79 catches for 938 yards and seven touchdowns during his rookie season.
