Having achieved incredible success for the Chiefs over the past eight seasons, Kelse has played 25 playoff games and added seasons and half of the games to the 175 regular season games he played in his career.

Kelse was still productive this season, but his yards (823) and touchdowns (3) this year in the regular season were the lowest he had in his full season.

In the Super Bowl, Kelse had only four catches for 39 yards, but they all came along with the Chiefs, who were taken over with multiple touchdowns.

“It's a difficult medicine to swallow, just as you feel you don't have the success you once had,” Kelse said.

“Being not there in the biggest moment, knowing that your team is counting on you, that's all very difficult. It's just a harsh reality.”

The star's tight end said it would take him a little while for him to figure it out.

“I think I'd imagine my teammates would be something if I came back. It was a heartfelt decision,” Kelse said.

“I'm not half-hearted. I'm completely here for them and I think I can play. As a person, as someone who takes on all that responsibility.”

If Kelse decides to retire, he will likely be the first Barott Hall of Fame and will go down as one of the tightest endings ever in NFL history.
