Tragic Loss for Family of Catholic Influencer Paul Kim

Prayers and condolences are being shared globally after the 5-year-old son of Catholic speaker Paul Kim passed away due to severe flu complications.

According to reports, Kim shared the family’s heartbreaking news on social media, revealing their sense of loss following their son’s death on Wednesday.

“Micah Joseph is entering the new year basking in God’s never-ending glory, love, and peace,” Kim wrote. “Our hearts are broken. But we trust in the Lord. Please pray for my family and me as we learn to live by faith and not by sight.”

The young boy spent over a week in the hospital, battling the flu along with internal bleeding and other serious issues.

Earlier, on December 21st, Kim had warned followers about Micah’s deteriorating condition, stating he was in the emergency room and his health was critical. “Please storm heaven and beg Jesus to heal him and restore him to perfect health. Thank you!” he urged.

While hospitalized, doctors conducted emergency chest surgery to stabilize his heart function. Though life support was gradually reduced and his lung capacity began to improve, an MRI later showed that Micah had suffered severe brain damage and recovery was deemed unlikely.

This flu season has seen a significant impact on children, with hospitalizations reportedly doubling within just a week, according to NBC News.

The report indicated that the number of influenza cases is expected to remain high for at least a few more weeks, potentially peaking by the end of January or February.

The illness, described by some as “Superflu,” is recognized by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) as a contagious respiratory condition that can vary in severity.

In her message about her son’s passing, Kim expressed deep gratitude for the outpouring of love and support the family received during such a challenging time. “Thank you so much for all the love, prayers, and compassion that countless of you have shown us. May God truly bless you. Your prayers for Micah have been answered, but not in the way we all had hoped. God has healed him and welcomed him into eternal life, where he is where we all want him to be,” he reflected.
