A boy from Lexington, Kentucky, might need to take on extra chores after a mix-up caused by his sweet tooth. His mother, Holly Lafavers, shared that her son, Liam, managed to order around 70,000 lollipops by phone, according to reports. The 8-year-old used his mother’s Amazon account to place an order for 22 cases.
Holly explained that Liam wanted to have a carnival and intended to use the lollipops as prizes. “He’s a friendly kid, always kind to his friends,” she added.
Lafavers discovered a hefty bill of over $4,000 for the order and admitted to feeling a bit faint when she saw the total. “It was such a shock,” she said.
Of the 22 cases that arrived, there were eight more that hadn’t been documented, according to her. When she checked with the post office, she found that some of the order had been returned.
Eventually, she did receive a refund, although it took a bit of time. “After coordinating with my bank and speaking to various news outlets, Amazon stepped in and said they’d refund my money,” she shared on social media.
To avoid similar surprises in the future, Lafavers mentioned they adjusted some settings on the phone. An Amazon representative commented, “We’re glad to help this customer turn a sticky situation into a sweet one.”
