A mother from Napa Valley is currently in critical condition after being shot in the back of the head by a suspect involved in a series of crimes over Memorial Day weekend.
Megan Stasko is making some progress in her recovery, but her sister, Tara Stasko, has indicated that financial support is essential.
“In an unexpected attack, my sister was struck multiple times by the suspect’s vehicle,” she shared on GoFundMe.
Tara recounted, “He kept ramming her car before ultimately shooting her in the back of the head. It’s a miracle the gunshot wasn’t lethal. Apparently, her attacker was evading authorities for various other offenses when he confronted Megan.”
“She will require time off work to heal. Any help would mean a lot, allowing her to focus on recovery and taking care of her daughter,” Tara added.
As of Friday morning, the GoFundMe campaign had raised over $13,700 towards its $15,000 target.
The suspect, 38-year-old Coleman Rocheleau, was apprehended by the police after someone called 911 to report the shooting. Detectives managed to pinpoint his vehicle using a license plate camera and used a Precision Immobilization Technique (PIT) to stop his escape.
Rocheleau has been charged with murder and torture and is currently housed at Hill Road Correctional Facility.
He is also linked to a woman found deceased at a house near Highway 29 and Point Lakeview Road in the Kelseyville-Riviera area. During his interrogation, he mentioned that there might be another victim at that residence.
Lake County detectives conducted a welfare check connected to a prior shooting report and discovered the dead woman. Details surrounding her identity or cause of death remain unclear.
The investigation is still ongoing, as stated by the Lake County Sheriff’s Office.
