Chilling video captures shooting during wild Long Island ‘senior skip day’ unrest

Dramatic new footage shows the moment gunfire rang out as a mob of teenagers overpowered police in a coastal community on Long Island.

Footage obtained by The Washington Post shows police gathering in a normally peaceful Long Beach neighborhood when eight gunshots are heard in rapid succession around 6 p.m. Thursday and officers rush to the source of the sounds.

Authorities said one person was shot during unrest on the city’s “Senior Skip Day,” when more than 2,000 teenagers flocked to the beach and surrounding areas, forcing local police to call in reinforcements from Nassau County police.
