Chip takes the role of executive producer.

“What kind of parents would let their kids watch this? How does Gaines justify this as family-friendly content?” a commenter on a Christian site voiced frustration.

Critics reacted, suggesting that this new direction starkly contrasts with the image Chip and Joanna had cultivated among their Christian supporters.
