While Republicans hold a majority in the House, 207 Democrats supported the government funding policy, compared to 132 Republicans.Only 83 Republicans and 2 Democrats I voted against the package.
Texas Republican Rep. Chip Roy was one of the Republicans to slam the policy.
“At the beginning of this Congress, House Republicans set out to cut spending and end the Biden administration’s policies that destroy Americans’ way of life and prosperity. “It’s a massive surrender,” Roy said.in part of statement.
“Budget tricks and promises are an intoxicating cocktail. After 14 months of sobriety, Congress has fallen. By a vote of 339-85, the Republican-led House spent hundreds more than Pelosi’s House spent on the budget. Sen. Mike Lee, Republican of Utah, responded to Massey’s tweet: write“Like a vomiting dog (Proverbs 26:11), Congressional Republicans are back on duty. This will not end well for the Republicans. If you act like the Democrats, you will lose elections.”
Georgia Republican Congressman Andrew Clyde tweeted“I voted no on the first half of the Swamp Omnibus, which ultimately passed with more Democratic votes than Republican votes. Unfortunately, this is the first half of the Swamp Omnibus that passed. This has become the norm for “must pass” bills. ”
