Discussions about Sharia law, immigration, assimilation, and America’s resemblance to Europe evoke strong opinions and disagreements.
To explore the issue further, Blaze TV host Steve Deace had a conversation with Chip Roy, a Republican congressman from Texas, who is also an attorney general candidate and co-founder of the House Sharia-Free America Caucus.
“Chip, how accurate is all of this?” Deace asked directly.
“This is very real. Our Democratic counterparts try to brush it off, as they did in a recent hearing I attended on this matter,” Roy stated, referencing a House Judiciary Subcommittee hearing on May 13 titled “Sharia-Free America: Why Political Islam and Sharia Law are Incompatible with the U.S. Constitution.”
“I wanted to highlight two main points: since 9/11, 5.5 million individuals have entered the U.S. from Muslim-majority regions. It’s reckless and foolish. Additionally, the Muslim Brotherhood has an agenda, and its affiliated organizations—whether they acknowledge it or not—are actively promoting this agenda strategically,” he elaborated, mentioning the growth of Islamic influence in Texas.
To put that 5.5 million figure into context, Deace said, “If this group were its own state, it would rank as the 24th largest in the country. That’s more than the populations of Alabama, Louisiana, and several other states combined.”
The situation is more troubling when taking into account that many of these immigrants have started families in the U.S.
“Considering the children they’ve had and their higher birth rates compared to ours over the last 25 years, I can assure you that number is significantly larger—perhaps even double,” Roy added.
“This could soon make it a top 10 state,” Deace remarked.
Roy often faces questions regarding his views on the First Amendment and believes critics misinterpret his stance.
“I’m not dictating beliefs to anyone. What I’m asserting is that you can’t support a political ideology whose primary intent, for most adherents, is to weaken our society and dismantle Western civilization,” he clarified.
“The contradiction in values here stems from Islam, and it’s crucial to recognize that. You can’t win a conflict you don’t accept exists. And it undeniably exists,” Roy continued.
Deace summarized the matter succinctly: “You have the right to your beliefs, but that doesn’t mean those beliefs can be imposed here.”
While there’s considerable focus on illegal immigration, Deace and Roy pointed out a significant issue with legal immigration, particularly concerning Muslim immigrants.
Roy referenced the situations in Britain and France, showcasing how legal immigration from Muslim-majority countries has drastically altered the demographics and cultural landscape of those nations.
“We’d be naive to think what’s occurring in London and Paris isn’t happening here, potentially at an accelerated pace,” he said. “People in the U.S. often wield the First Amendment more aggressively than they can elsewhere.”
Roy cautioned that Muslim immigrants might leverage “our own property rights” and other freedoms to establish “religious centers and communities,” as part of a broader agenda to influence the West.
“The infiltration of Islam into our communities poses the greatest threat to our nation’s future,” he stated.
