A trigger-happy customer in Michigan is accused of fatally shooting a Chipotle employee Friday night in a Detroit neighborhood over an argument over guacamole.
The violence occurred at the Southfield location on Evergreen Road near Civic Center Drive just before 7 p.m.
witness told FOX2 As they were eating, they heard an argument breaking out between a customer and an employee.
When the employee went briefly to the back of the restaurant, the customer walked around the counter and tried to grab food and put it in a bag, another witness told the publication.

“Then the employees came back and they started fighting and we heard gunshots so we ran away as fast as we could,” he said.
Southfield police told Fox News Digital that the employee was shot in the leg. They did not confirm a FOX 2 report that the altercation involved guacamole.
A customer who videotaped the altercation said the suspect “took a while to get out” after firing the gun.
“I was in the car and I saw him walk towards his car, close the door and drive off. He wasn’t speeding or anything and it was weird to watch. “It was,” he said.

Responding officers provided medical aid to the victim and transported him to the hospital, where he was found to be in stable but non-life-threatening condition.
The suspect, identified as a 33-year-old man from Detroit, was arrested near the restaurant. Police recovered the gun used in the shooting. Police said the facts surrounding the incident are still under investigation.

“Our thoughts and prayers are with the team members injured in the senseless act of violence that occurred inside the Evergreen Road Restaurant in Southfield, Michigan. We are cooperating with those responsible for this crime and hope that justice will be served.” Chipotle said in a statement.
Southfield is about a 20-minute drive northwest of Detroit.
