Chloe Feynman Reflects on SNL Changes

Chloe Feynman shared her feelings about the changes happening on Saturday Night Live, particularly around the upcoming Season 51 premiere slated for October 4th. With several cast members departing, she described the situation as “pretty wild” during a conversation with Extra TV.

“Some shocking things,” Feynman noted, expressing a sense of heartbreak and sadness. She admitted that while she wasn’t fully processing everything, such turnover is common for the show. “I’m entering my seventh year,” she said, having joined the cast in 2019. Although some may leave, these connections often last beyond the show.

Recent departures include Devon Walker, Emile Wakim, Michael Longfellow, and Heidi Gardner. Gardner, who spent eight years with the show, reportedly had her contract not renewed, leading to comments about the need for a fresh cast.

Despite her rich tenure, Gardner has remained quiet on her exit. She was noted as the longest-serving woman on the show as of the last season. Joining as a featured player in season 43, she had hinted at possible burnout in recent months. In a podcast with Craig Ferguson, she expressed feeling “sketch fatigue,” reflecting on the many sketches she had written during her time there.

Longfellow openly shared his feelings in a farewell message once the news broke, expressing gratitude for the past three years, describing them as the best of his life.

Walker, too, shared his sentiments in a personal note, proposing that working in the entertainment industry is akin to small marriages—temporary yet impactful until they’re not. Fans voiced their reactions to the shakeup on social media, with Walker noting a comment about the transient nature of such changes.

As the show gears up for its premiere, SNL has also introduced five new cast members: Tommy Brennan, Jeremy Calhane, Ben Marshall, Cam Patterson, and Veronica Slowkowska. The latter, originally from Canada, expressed her excitement on Instagram about joining the iconic show, marking a new chapter for the comedy series.
