Chloe Kitts hilariously gave away one of South Carolina’s plays, but it didn’t matter against Oklahoma

Greenville, South Carolina – Chloe Kitts was extremely honest when answering one question at a post-game press conference in South Carolina on Friday after beating Vanderbilt in the quarterfinals of the SEC tournament.

Kitts, a junior at Gamecocks, was asked about his fourth quarter performance against Commodores. There he stacked up buckets to score a career-high 25 points with 10 rebounds.

She replied, followed by awkwardness and cheerfulness.

Kitten: “I just went there and was confident. My coach and point guard kept saying, '14'. I just delivered. I was just out there. ”

Staley: “Thank you.”

Kitten: “What?”

Staley: “You just told them our play.”

Kitten: “Sorry.”

But if South Carolina's opponent Oklahoma had heard on Saturday in the SEC semi-finals, it never showed.

South Carolina placed the hammer on the Sooners and won 93-75 to advance to the SEC Tournament title game for the sixth consecutive season. And Kitz played pretty well again, piling up 10 points, four rebounds, four assists and steals in just 17 minutes of action. And her defense was extremely important in slowing down Oklahoma's Reagan beer. This is the national who finished with just 7 points in two-tenths of a shooting.

Kitts has his best season in South Carolina uniforms, averaging 10 points, 7.8 rebounds and two assists per game. Despite her press conference, Staley praised her 6-foot-2 front from Florida.

“I mean, this is really who Chloe is. She's starting to play very consistent basketball. She wants the ball in her hand. She wants to be a playmaker. She wants to score that or plate a plate for her teammates… Chloe gets physically and mentally strong so she can handle the harshness of this league.”

Kitz's performance, and her new consistency, is another example of how deep the gamecock is. The roster is full of talented players and she stands out as March Madness approaches. In her last six games, she averaged 12.8 points, 9.3 rebounds and 3.5 assists 63.2% off the floor.

And her funny moments at the press conference, and the game that followed, reminds us that South Carolina is once again a legitimate competitor for the national championship. And even when Gamecocks accidentally hand out play calls, they're still hard to beat.
