Chris Brown Taken into Custody for Reported Assault in 2023

On Wednesday, authorities apprehended singer Chris Brown at a hotel in Manchester, UK, in connection with an alleged attack that occurred in 2023.

According to investigations by Met Police, Brown was taken into custody early on suspicion of inflicting serious injuries on music producer Abe Dio at Mayfair, a nightclub located in central London. Reports indicate that he remains in custody.

A police spokesperson confirmed, “The arrest is related to an incident at the Hanover Square venue on February 19, 2023.”

After it was reported that his private plane had landed in the UK, Brown reportedly inquired with law enforcement about any potential arrest. Subsequently, the police traveled to Manchester to detain him.

In a statement to the press, Dio recounted the incident, claiming that he was attacked unprovoked around 3 AM, stating, “He hit me a couple of times. My knee fell too.”

The investigation is being led by detectives from the Basic Command Unit in the Central West Area.

Brown is scheduled to continue touring and has several performances planned in the UK for June and July, although there is no information available about how this recent incident might affect his concert schedule.

This isn’t Brown’s first run-in with law enforcement. He was arrested in 2009 for an assault on his ex-girlfriend Rihanna, for which he later pled guilty. Over the years, he has faced various legal issues, including allegations of assault against his aide and bodyguard and multiple rape allegations.
