Former New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie (R) predicted in an interview Sunday that tech billionaire Elon Musk's influence over President-elect Trump will end.
“When will this end?” ABC News' Jonathan Karl asked Christie about Musk's influence on Trump on “This Week.”
“If President Trump believes something has gone wrong and we need someone to take responsibility and Mr. Musk is in charge, then it's over. No one knows how long that will take. ” replied Christie.
Mr. Musk strongly supported Mr. Trump's candidacy for the presidential election, supporting Mr. Trump following the assassination attempt on the president-elect in July. He also appeared at Trump's rallies and launched a pro-Trump super PAC, America PAC, which donated $118 million to the committee.
“You know, the people at the very heart of the Trump presidency have a lifespan, and that lifespan is affected by external events, and that's what Speaker Johnson is looking at right now,” Christie said on ABC.・Said while referring to Speaker of the House of Representatives Johnson. (R-La).
Earlier this week, President Trump and some allies recently pushed back against the government funding deal negotiated by Prime Minister Johnson, even as a Friday deadline to avoid a government shutdown loomed.
“Any Representative or Senator who votes for this outrageous spending bill deserves to be voted out within two years!” Musk said on his social platform X on Wednesday.
Appearing on “This Week” on Sunday, Mr. Christie said that Mr. Musk, “no matter how wealthy he is, he would not stand up in front of 20,000 people and have them chant his name.'' That's what happened.''
“You know, sometimes it's hard to understand how intoxicating this is for some people,” Christie said.
