Chris Paul Joins Los Angeles Clippers on One-Year Deal

NBA star Chris Paul is set to sign a one-year contract with the Los Angeles Clippers, giving him another shot at chasing the championship title.

According to reports, Paul and the Clippers reached an agreement, despite several teams being interested in the veteran point guard. He previously played for the Clippers from 2011 to 2017.

As he enters his 21st season, Paul’s journey has taken him to four different teams in the last four years. He played the 2023-2024 season with the Golden State Warriors, had a stint with the San Antonio Spurs last year, and was with the Phoenix Suns during the 2022-2023 season.

Last season, Paul started all 82 games with the Spurs, averaging 8.8 points and 7.4 assists while the team was focused on players like Victor Wembanyama and Stefon Castle.

Recognized as a 12-time All-Star and an 11-time All-NBA first-team selection, Paul has yet to secure a championship. His closest chance was with the Suns in the 2020-2021 season when they made it to the NBA Finals but lost to the Milwaukee Bucks.

Interestingly, the Clippers have never reached the NBA Finals since the franchise’s inception. Now, with Paul joining stars like Kawhi Leonard, James Harden, and recently acquired Bradley Beal, the team certainly looks like a contender. Yet, I wonder—can they finally break through?

Though the Clippers have a strong roster, they’ll need to prove themselves, especially against rivals like the Oklahoma City Thunder. Only time will tell if this lineup can achieve the success that has eluded them for so long.
