Chris Paul is a basketball mastermind. Paul, 39, was brought to San Antonio over the summer to help coach second-year superstar Victor Wembaneyama and get the Spurs back on track. CP3 is having a great season for a player his age, but with LeBron James' widely acclaimed age-40 season, he feels like he's gone a little under the radar. Paul's brilliance still shows on the floor regularly, and it happened again Wednesday night against the Memphis Grizzlies.
In the second quarter, Grizzlies rookie Zach Eady fell to the floor with the ball in his hands. Paul was in position to tie him with a jump ball, but the 6-foot CP3 couldn't beat the 7-foot-4 Eadie on the jump ball. Instead of tying up Wenbanyama, Paul literally forced Wenbanyama's hands to be tied up with Edie. Wenbanyama and Eadie had a jump ball at 7:05, and Spurs forward Julien Champagnie controlled the ball and recovered it.
This is the subtle genius of CP3. What a legend!
This is a testament to Paul's legendary basketball IQ. We've seen plenty of examples of Paul's ruthless competitiveness and high IQ over the years. Remember when Paul was playing for the Thunder and was given a technical foul for snitching on a Timberwolves player who was wearing an untucked jersey? Add this to your highlight reel.
It's just CP3, dude. What a player.
