Chris Pratt Honors Veterans in Hollywood

Chris Pratt recently highlighted the remarkable work ethic of veterans in Hollywood, specifically referencing the former Navy SEAL he collaborates with on “The Terminal List.” Pratt, 46, expressed admiration for their ability to efficiently complete tasks, saying, “We have a lot of veterans in our room—literally! With Rob Lowe.” He noted how many veterans contribute both in front of and behind the camera, emphasizing the valuable transition from military service to the film industry.

He elaborated, stating, “If you ask them, ‘Hey, please handle this,’ they just do it. No need to check in the next day. Instead of second-guessing or asking for clarification, they’re just on it. That’s impressive.” The structured method in which veterans approach their work is something he finds admirable.

Starring as Lieutenant Commander James Reese, a skilled U.S. Navy SEAL, Pratt is also an executive producer for the series. He reflected on how a former Navy SEAL shares his unique skills with the film industry. “Their training is so specific. It really only applies in certain contexts, unless you’re doing private security, which requires constant alertness and readiness to use lethal force if necessary,” he explained. Pratt found it fascinating to witness how veterans channel their experiences into art. “Seeing them utilize their extensive training to teach actors about weapon systems is, well, it’s quite an experience,” he added.

Pratt initially gained fame from his role on “Parks and Recreation” alongside actors like Amy Poehler and Adam Scott. He became a household name after his leading role in the blockbuster “Guardians of the Galaxy.” Since then, he’s starred in various successful films including “Jurassic World,” “Passengers,” “Moneyball,” and “Zero Dark Thirty.”

Interestingly, Pratt shared a brief anecdote about his past. Before hitting it big, he worked at the Bubba Gump Shrimp Company, where a misunderstanding turned a part of his identity upside down. “I had a name tag that said Christopher. But one part got worn off, and it was just ‘Christo.’ It led to some confusion among coworkers,” he recalled during an appearance on a podcast. “Some thought my name was Cristo, and I even wondered if that would be the name I carried as I tried to achieve my dreams.”
