Chris Pratt Urges Americans to Step Away from the Internet and Reflect

In light of the national sorrow and division surrounding the assassination of Charlie Kirk, actor Chris Pratt has reached out to Americans through a recent social media post. He suggested that they log off the internet, step outside, and focus on what genuinely matters.

His message came just days after the shocking incident where the conservative commentator was murdered. While he didn’t mention Kirk directly, Pratt expressed that he had been praying for Kirk’s recovery shortly after the shooting during the Turning Point USA event at Utah Valley University.

Pratt’s post quickly gained traction, accumulating over 600,000 likes and around 15,000 comments. In a heartfelt prayer, he urged his followers to join him, pointing to Psalm 46:10, which encourages stillness and recognizing the presence of God. He asked for tranquility amidst chaos and invited everyone to focus on life’s positive aspects.

“Stop everything and pray with me,” he urged. “Lord, calm my restless mind. Lift distractions away and fill me with your peace.”

He went on to implore his followers to avoid what some call “doomscrolling.” He suggested that instead of continuing to scroll through their phones, they might consider going for a walk outside to enjoy the sunlight, connect with nature, and reach out to friends.

“Perhaps you could turn off your phone and just go outside? Look at the trees, touch the grass. If you have time to scroll, you have time to connect with someone who might need it,” he added.

Best known for his roles in Jurassic World and the Guardians of the Galaxy series, Pratt has also lent his voice to animated films like the Super Mario Bros Movie. In reaction to his post, Christian singer Lauren Daigle commented, noting that “prayer is a simple yet powerful miracle.”

Others in the contemporary Christian music scene echoed their support for Pratt’s message. This year, he has openly expressed his desire to stand firm in his faith, declaring that he feels called to be a beacon of light in a complex and often contradictory world.

“I think being vocal about faith can be risky in the entertainment industry. But it’s essential to me, even if it might impact my career,” he remarked.

Ultimately, Pratt emphasized that prayer, faith, and raising his children to understand these values are paramount for him. He recognizes the importance of modeling a strong belief for his family, noting that many may be discovering this aspect of his character for the first time.
