Iconic supermodel Christie Brinkley revealed in an Instagram message Wednesday that she has been diagnosed with skin cancer.
Brinkley shared a photo of herself in a hospital bed with her face bandaged. She shared a photo of a graphic incision on her temple, with her skin cracking open to reveal a deep gash. Her photo gallery also included images of the numerous needles needed to stitch up her wounds after a medical procedure to remove skin cancer. The supermodel detailed her condition in a lengthy caption. “The good news for me is that I caught my basal cell carcinoma early. And I had an amazing doctor who removed the cancer and stitched it up as perfectly as Dior in haute couture 👍” she wrote.
Brinkley advised her fans and followers about the importance of sunscreen before explaining the surprising events that led to her shocking diagnosis.
“The good news for you is that all of this can be avoided by being diligent about sunscreen. I’ve been a little slow in getting serious, so for this mermaid-cum-gardener, I’m going to slather on SPF 30 and apply as much sunscreen as I need.” I will repaint accordingly and wear long sleeves and a wide-brimmed hat,” she said.
“And to have regular full-body exams…it’s a must! I was lucky to find mine because I was accompanying one of my daughters to a medical checkup,” she said.
“The doctor was looking at each freckle with a magnifying glass… It wasn’t my appointment, so I wasn’t going to say anything, but at the last minute, I noticed a tiny little I asked if he could just look at the dot and I put some foundation on it. He looked and knew right away that I needed a biopsy.”

Brinkley praised the doctors for providing prompt treatment and attention.
“He did it on the spot!” she said.
