Christie Brinkley Discusses Dating and Love in Recent Podcast Appearance

Christie Brinkley, the 71-year-old supermodel, recently joined Kristin Davis on the podcast “Are You Charlotte?” During the episode, she shared a surprising experience involving her 27-year-old daughter, Sailor Brinkley Cook, who sneaked her onto a dating app for an hour without her knowledge.

Both mother and daughter were taken aback by what they discovered. Sailor remarked, “Mom, you were right not to pursue this further. The same men you know all said yes.”

Davis responded enthusiastically, praising Sailor for initiating the experiment and calling it “a fascinating little experiment.” Brinkley then offered insights about dating at her age.

She noted, “Men seem eager to impress, asking about where they can take you for dinner or what fun activities they can plan.” It appears dating has its quirks even at her stage in life.

In her memoir, “Uptown Girl,” Brinkley reflects on her past relationships and the heartaches that shaped her. She admitted to Davis that while she hesitated to divulge personal stories, ultimately, people encouraged her to tell her tale. “I’ve had countless adventures,” she explained, highlighting that some chapters were tough to write.

Brinkley commented on the complexity of relationships, acknowledging, “After numerous ups and downs, people often find themselves needing to be more open about their experiences.” It’s not always a rosy picture, she added, referencing that sometimes the glamour of modeling was tinged with struggles.

Recently, Brinkley has focused on her work and passions, emphasizing that age shouldn’t deter anyone from pursuing their dreams. “Age is like America’s last frontier. We need to embrace it kindly,” she said, suggesting a healthy lifestyle rather than fixating on age itself.

She mentioned that she and Sailor have shared matching moments, like when they wore similar orange outfits by Donna Karan at the Solving Kids Cancer Annual Hamptons luncheon, a recent event where they also promoted Brinkley’s book.

In her memoir, Brinkley revealed how her romantic life, including her nearly ten-year marriage to Billy Joel, has influenced her. She candidly addressed the struggles with his drinking, likening it to another woman in their relationship. “His drinking overshadowed our marriage,” she stated plainly.

After her split from Joel in 1994, Brinkley’s love life included brief marriages to Richard Taubman and Peter Cook, both of which carried significant challenges. She noted that transitioning from these relationships has not been easy, especially considering her daughter with Joel, Alexa Ray Joel. “You hope for the best in your child’s life, but leaving wasn’t straightforward,” Brinkley reflected.

While she has faced public scrutiny, Brinkley feels optimistic about the future. She believes that love, in its various forms, is essential. “I really feel surrounded by love,” she shared. “If romantic love comes, that would be nice, but I’m content with the love I have around me now.”
