Former New Jersey Governor Chris Christie (Republican) has not ruled out voting for President Biden, but has made it clear that he will not support former President Trump in a possible rematch in November.
Christie was asked this in an interview with Crooked Media. “Pod Save America” On Wednesday’s podcast, the choice between Biden and Trump will matter in next November’s election, as both men remain the front-runners of their respective parties. He did not commit to voting for Biden, instead indicating he would likely support a potential no-label bid by Sen. Joe Manchin (D-Va.).
“What I believe is that we still don’t know what the full choice will be. Bobby Kennedy Jr. aside, I think it’s a joke and probably won’t even be on the ballot in most states. Probably not,” he said.
“But I think the No Labels effort is a real effort. I think it will be on the ballot in most, if not all states. So I think other than my decision to never vote for Trump… “One of the reasons I’m not making a decision is because they might nominate someone I prefer over Joe Biden,” he continued. “So, for example, if they nominated Joe Manchin, I would vote for Joe Manchin.”
No Labels is a political group trying to propose a “unity” ticket in all 50 states. Mr. Manchin has been floated as a possible candidate for the group, which has faced bipartisan criticism, with Democrats worried that a third-party bid could tilt the election in Mr. Trump’s favor. This is causing concern among members.
Asked if voting for a third-party candidate was important in helping Trump win, Christie said his vote doesn’t matter much in New Jersey, which has voted Democratic in the past eight presidential elections. argued that it was not.
“I don’t want Trump to win. And I certainly will — that’s going to be something I evaluate as time goes on. I won’t be an early voter. As much as I can. “I was planning on going on Election Day to get information,” he said. “But what I’m saying is, qualitatively, I think Joe, Joe Biden is less qualified than Joe Manchin to be president of the United States next term.”
When asked further why he wouldn’t vote for Biden “if it’s necessary to save the country,” Christie replied: he said he hasn’t ruled it out.
“And I’m not saying I won’t. I’m just saying, I’m not there yet. The only thing I’m adamant about is that under no circumstances should Trump It’s about not voting,” he said.
Christie, who withdrew from last month’s Republican presidential primary, said in an interview with NBC’s “Meet the Press” host Kristen Welker earlier this week that he was unlikely to vote for the Democratic front-runner. Ta.
