Christina Haack’s Son Weighs in on Her Relationship Choices
Christina Haack’s son, Braden, has some surprisingly blunt insights about his mom’s dating life. Following her divorce filing from Joshua Hall in 2024, the 42-year-old HGTV star shared a memorable conversation with her 10-year-old. Braden told her, “You’re a great mom and a great person. But, honestly, you’re just making some really poor choices about men,” she recalled.
After the separation, Braden, who she shares with ex-husband Tarek El Moussa, jumped into bed with her one morning and offered his perspective on life. “He said, ‘Dad is the best, but you’re making a bad choice,'” Haack explained, adding that it was touching, albeit a bit awkward to hear. “Sorry, Tarek, he clearly loves you.”
This candid moment made Haack reflect on her relationships. She mentioned that her son’s words prompted serious considerations about her past choices, particularly after her split from Hall, which made headlines.
Haack and Hall, who got married in 2022, filed for divorce in July 2024. Interestingly, she noted that the kids were not exactly taken by surprise at the couple’s decision to part ways. “The kids raised it with me,” she said. “They picked up on the vibe between us, especially with Heather [Rae El Moussa]. It’s clear they know there’s tension.” She elaborated, “It’s really sad. They can see that I’m not happy, and that sets a strange example for them.”
Haack, who shares two children with El Moussa, including Braden and a 15-year-old daughter named Taylor, remarked on how her experiences have seemed to make her kids grow up faster than their years might suggest. “Braden was just trying to protect me,” she fondly reflected on his attempt at honesty.
Following the finalization of her divorce, Hall posted a reflective message on Instagram, celebrating his newfound freedom. He wrote, “I’m excited to spend a Labor Day weekend in real life,” alongside a photo of himself making the most of his time. “Finally, a legally divorced man, free,” he added, emphasizing his independence and some hard-learned lessons about relationships.
A source close to Hall mentioned that this was a notably fair divorce, indicating a reasonable approach to dividing their assets and ensuring each left the marriage with what they acquired before tying the knot.
In a nutshell, it seems that amidst the ups and downs of relationships, Haack is navigating this new chapter with a mix of introspection and support from her family, particularly her kids, who are clearly paying attention to everything that unfolds.
