Stefon Diggs Faces Legal Troubles Again
Stefon Diggs has found himself in hot water once more.
The 32-year-old wide receiver is facing charges of felony strangulation or suffocation, along with assault and battery, stemming from an alleged incident that took place on December 2 at his home. This situation adds to a growing list of off-field issues he’s been dealing with.
Known for his controversies, the New England Patriots star had already been under scrutiny before this latest legal issue came to light on Tuesday.
A month prior to these charges, an online influencer by the name of Christopher Blake Griffith filed a lawsuit against Diggs, claiming sexual assault, conspiracy, emotional distress, and defamation. In response, Diggs fired back with his own defamation lawsuit, suggesting that Griffith’s allegations were fabricated.
Additionally, in September, a woman named Eileen Lopera brought a paternity suit against Diggs, alleging he is the father of her daughter, Charlie. A paternity test later confirmed this claim.
Interestingly, just a couple of months later, Diggs welcomed his first child with rapper Cardi B.
Things have been rocky for Diggs since he signed a three-year, $69 million deal with the Patriots last offseason. He started his time in New England on a controversial note after being photographed handing what appeared to be a mysterious pink substance to women in bikinis while on a boat.
Amidst these personal challenges, Diggs has managed to maintain his performance on the field. After a disrupted 2024 season due to a torn ACL while playing for the Texans, he has been consistent this season, catching 82 passes for 970 yards and scoring four touchdowns as the team approaches Week 18.
Before his time in Foxboro, Diggs had a tumultuous run with the Vikings, followed by a stint with the Bills. His time with the Bills ended on a sour note after four years, leading to a trade to the Texans ahead of the 2024 season.
