Giants Training Camp Kicks Off with Russell Wilson
On the opening day of Giants training camp, Russell Wilson appeared alongside his wife, Ciara, and their children, Siena and Amora. They all embraced the team spirit, with Ciara and the kids wearing blue while Wilson sported his red jersey.
A video shared by the Giants captured a heartwarming moment of Amora running to hug Wilson on the training field. Interestingly, this day also marked Amora’s fifth birthday.
During a media session, Wilson expressed his enthusiasm for the Giants, highlighting the team’s culture and the vibrant fanbase. He also mentioned that being in New York could really benefit Ciara’s music career. “I’ve spent time in New York before, and my family has roots here,” he said, adding, “The energy of the city is just incredible.”
Wilson reflected on his love for the city and the sports culture, noting, “For me, I’ve always thrived in a fast-paced environment. It’s just who I am.” He also appreciated the bonds formed during camp, saying, “Those early mornings and late nights spent with the team are what you cherish the most.”
When asked if Ciara had influenced his decision to come to New York, he laughed it off, stating, “She loves it here, and so do I, but ultimately, it’s about the game for me.”
Giants head coach Brian Daboll confirmed that Wilson will be the starting quarterback this season. The team recently made moves to bolster their roster, signing veteran Jameis Winston and selecting Jaxson Dart from Ole Miss in the draft.
Wilson, who started 11 games with the Steelers last season, finished with impressive stats: 2,482 yards, 16 touchdowns, and a 63.7% completion rate. He captured a Super Bowl title with the Seahawks in 2014, a couple of years before marrying Ciara.
As they settle into New York, Wilson and Ciara have already begun attending local events and games, including those for the Liberty and Knicks during the playoffs. They recently also made an appearance at the ESPY Awards in Los Angeles.
