Ciara reacts to Russell Wilson’s Broncos goodbye as release nears

Ciara continues to be inspired by her husband Russell Wilson.

The Broncos notified Wilson that he would be released after the start of the new league season on March 13th.

Wilson left Seattle and was traded to the Broncos in March 2022, signing a five-year, $242.6 million contract extension with the team before the season started.

Denver sent five draft picks (including two first-round picks) and three players to the Seahawks for the Super Bowl champions.

Under Wilson, who led the team to a 5-12 record in his first season, the Broncos never made the playoffs.

Denver improved to 8-9 for the team with Payton, but Wilson was benched for the final two games of the season.

The Broncos trade for Wilson will go down as one of the worst trades in NFL history, as Denver will be carrying a total dead cap hit of $85 million over the next two years. This is the largest dead cap amount in league history.

In a statement, Wilson thanked his teammates and Broncos fans for making him feel like family during his time in the Mile High City.

“Hard times don’t last long, but tough people do. God got me and I can’t wait to see what happens next. #3,” Wilson concluded his message.

In two seasons with the Broncos, Wilson totaled 6,594 passing yards, 42 touchdowns, and 19 interceptions in 30 games, compiling an 11-19 record.

Last month, Wilson and Ciara attended the SAG Awards, marking Ciara’s first red carpet appearance since welcoming her third child, daughter Amora Princess Wilson, on December 11.

Ciara and Wilson, 38, have older sister Sienna Princess, 6, and son Win Harrison, 3.
