On July 25th, the victims of a downtown Cincinnati brawl expressed gratitude towards those who supported them during their recovery from injuries.
In reports shared by several media outlets, a victim named Holly, who sustained injuries during the altercations at Elm and Force Street, was seen in distress as she described the incident. It was highlighted that Holly fell to the ground during the struggle.
Recent videos show Holly addressing her supporters, revealing the severity of her injuries, which included bruises and black eyes. “I want to thank everyone for your love and support,” she said. “It’s incredibly humbling to receive prayers and blessings. It definitely motivates me. You’ve all helped restore my faith in humanity, so thank you.”
She continued, “I’m really thankful for everything you’ve done for me and my family. It’s quite difficult as I’m still recovering from serious brain trauma. Thank you all.”
The situation escalated to the point that six individuals are facing charges, with four already arrested, following what began as verbal disputes, according to police reports.
Leaders have condemned the violence, and Vice President JD Vance commented on the chaos, remarking on a video he saw of “lawless thugs” attacking innocent people, which he found repulsive.
Contrarily, Cincinnati’s Democratic city council members have faced backlash for their remarks regarding the victims of the brawl. Councillor Victoria Parks suggested, “They begged for that assault! I appreciate having the full story,” in response to footage of the incident.
In total, six individuals were injured in the altercation, as authorities continue to search for two more suspects involved. Among those arrested are Germaine Matthews, 39, Dominique Kittles, 37, Montian Meriweather, 34, and 24-year-old Dekira Vernon, all suspected of being involved in the brawl.
