Cincinnati Football Player Jeremiah Kelly Dies Unexpectedly at 18

The Cincinnati Bearcats lament the unexplained, unexplained street of 18-year-old offensive lineman Jeremiah Kelly, who died at his home early Tuesday.

The 6-3, 320 pound freshman was taking part in the Bearcat Spring Practice.

“The Bearcats Football Family is heartbroken by the sudden loss of this outstanding young man,” Coach Scott Sutterfield said. “Jeremiah had a short time with our team and he had a real impact on both the field and the locker room. My prayers are with Kelly’s family and those who have the joy of knowing Jeremiah.”

No cause of death was given.

“Today we are suffering from heartbreaking losses.” I said Athletic Director John Cunningham. “We all at UC send love and prayers to Kelly’s family. We will do everything we can to support them and the Bearcats student-athletes in the difficult days and weeks.”

Kelly, a native of Ohio, helped lead the Avon High School team to an undefeated 16-0 record and a state championship in 2024. He was an early Cincinnati subscriber.
