Tragic Deaths of Climbers on Mount Rotze in Nepal

Two climbers, one from India and another originally from Romania, have tragically died on Mount Rotze in Nepal, the world’s fourth-highest peak. This unfortunate event brings the season’s death toll to at least eight, according to hiking officials.

Rakesh Kumar, aged 39 and hailing from India, died on Sunday while descending from the summit, which stands at 8,516 meters (27,940 feet). Mohan Ramsal, from Makal Adventure—a Nepali climbing organization that facilitated his expedition—reported that Kumar collapsed while returning from the fourth camp, situated at 8,000 meters (26,246 feet). Attempts to resuscitate him by his Sherpa guide were unsuccessful.

On the same day, Rajan Bhattarai from Himalayas Guide mentioned that Barna Zsolt Vago, 48, from Romania, also lost his life while en route to Lhotse Peak. Further details regarding the circumstances of his death are not yet available.

Each year, the climbing season in Nepal, which typically begins around March 5th, sees multiple fatalities. So far this season, the death toll in the Himalayan region of Nepal has reached at least eight, including two climbers on Mount Everest.
