Victor Wembanyama, the towering center for the San Antonio Spurs, is poised to present a serious challenge for other NBA teams. In response, the Los Angeles Clippers have signed 7-foot-5 center Jamarion Sharpe to a two-way contract, which could help them navigate this formidable situation.
With his impressive height, Sharpe currently holds the title of the tallest player in the NBA, just edging out Wembanyama at 7 feet 4 inches and Memphis Grizzlies’ Zach Eadie at 7 feet 3 inches.
Sharpe’s basketball journey includes stints at John A. Logan University, Western Kentucky University, and Ole Miss, with the 2023-24 season marking his last in college. Despite going undrafted in 2024, he made a splash with the Dallas Mavericks’ summer league team and later played for their G League affiliate, the Texas Legends. Notably, he earned the Defensive Player of the Year Award for the 2025-2026 season.
During that season, Sharpe stood out with an average of 3.9 blocks per game, leading the G League, and 7.3 rebounds in just under 25 minutes of play. His offensive efficiency was stellar, topping the league in field goal percentage at 71.2%. Following this success, he spent the 2026 NBA Summer League with the Toronto Raptors before joining the Clippers.
While Wembanyama’s prowess stems not solely from his height but also from his skill set and athleticism, having someone of Sharpe’s stature on the court could certainly aid in slowing him down. The anticipation builds for their first matchup of the season, which is sure to attract a lot of attention.
