Children’s ice cream isn’t the only thing that melts in the summer heat.
Look at the hands of this “clumsy” clock.
Residents in Keynsham, Somerset, were stunned after one of the faces of the town’s central clock tower appeared to have “melted”.

Many townspeople likened the strange face to Salvador Dali’s famous painting, “The Persistence of Memory,” SWNS reported.
Keynsham Clock Tower was commissioned by Bath and North East Somerset (BANES) in April 2015 “as part of the redevelopment of the civic centre”.

Although the clock tower was built only nine years ago, its impressive appearance has made a new impression as one of the faces of the clock tower.

As SWNS noted, one of the clock’s hands appears to remain fully attached, but the other appears to have detached from the case.

Residents have come up with a number of theories to try to understand why this happened.

One possible theory is that a black ribbon at the top of the clock tower broke off and fell into the middle of the two hands, causing them to break further, SWNS reported.
The cause of the problem has yet to be determined, but alternative theories continue to circulate.

There is speculation that the recent heatwave in the southwest English town may have been the cause of the melted hand.
A BANES Council spokesman told SWNS: “We are aware of the issue and intend to resolve it.”

According to the news site, the large clock tower is made of “digitally printed tempered curved glass, a granite base and an outer polyurethane resin casing.”
