Rep. James Clyburn (R-Colorado) criticized former President Trump for trying to take credit for lower insulin prices over the weekend.
Clyburn was responding to the former president’s Truth Social post on NewsNation’s “The Hill Sunday,” slamming the president for trying to take credit for lowering insulin prices in a post on the social platform on Saturday.
“Donald Trump is now saying that he, not Joe Biden, lowered the price of insulin. How can he lie so boldly when this man has done nothing but push for the reduction and even repeal of Obamacare? In fact, he used it as a reason to oppose John McCain, imitating McCain for casting the deciding vote rather than repealing Obamacare,” Clyburn said.
President Biden has touted the Inflation Control Act as one of his key accomplishments in lowering drug prices, including a $35 cap on insulin prices for Medicare members. The Biden campaign has sought to contrast him with Trump on drug prices, warning late last year that drug prices could soar if Trump is re-elected.
Biden campaign spokesman Amar Moosa posted that Trump had “failed” to cap insulin prices. Social Media Platform XHe was responding to a Truth Social post by Trump, who said Biden had “nothing to do” with low prices.
“This shows Donald Trump has a weakness: he promised to cap insulin prices and failed. President Biden has taken on Big Pharma and, with bipartisan cooperation, capped insulin prices for millions of Americans,” Moosa wrote.
