CM Punk Comments on Giants Fans Criticizing Cam Skatebo
During a recent WWE Monday Night Raw event at Madison Square Garden, CM Punk shared his thoughts on Giants fans criticizing running back Cam Skatebo. Skatebo is currently recovering from season-ending ankle surgery and got involved in a physical confrontation with members of The Judgment Day at ringside.
Things escalated when Skatebo faced off against Dominik Mysterio, shoving JD McDonough and igniting a scuffle with other Giants supporters present. This incident has drawn significant attention in sports circles over the last couple of days, with many questioning Skatebo’s decision to engage physically while in a walking boot after his injury during a Week 8 game against the Eagles.
Punk, a self-proclaimed Bears fan and current WWE World Heavyweight Champion, remarked that critics need to reconsider their stance. He expressed disbelief at their reactions, questioning if they really want Skatebo to distance himself from the team. “I think it’s a little absurd,” Punk said on Barstool Sports’ “The Yak.” “I don’t know the ins and outs of Giants fan opinions, but it just seems ridiculous.” He went on to emphasize that while life isn’t always fair, it reflects poorly for fans to disparage a player who gives his all.
Skatebo himself responded to the backlash via social media, stating, “If you don’t like me having a good time while dealing with tough times, feel free to unfollow me.” He expressed that since he can’t play football, he’s exploring ways to find joy outside the sport. “Enjoy the rest of your week. If you don’t have anything good to say, don’t talk about me.”
As for the Giants, they continue to rally behind their promising rookie, who has accumulated 410 rushing yards, five touchdowns, and 207 receiving yards with two touchdowns this season. Interim head coach Mike Kafka voiced his support for Skatebo and the medical team. He noted, “There are some team events aimed at helping rookies engage with the community. It was fantastic to see the energy Skatebo brought to the event, and you could feel it even through the screen.” It seems the team remains committed to supporting Skatebo during this challenging time.
