CM Punk Ready for Challenges After WWE Championship Win

Following his victory over Sami Zayn for the Undisputed WWE Championship, CM Punk made an appearance on Friday Night SmackDown, eager to take on any challengers. He strutted into the ring in Oklahoma City, hinting at a return to “Monday Night Raw” after WrestleMania 42. Punk casually remarked to Cody Rhodes that if a title shot fell into his lap, he’d be ready.

“When a chance to win falls out of the sky, CM Punk catches it,” he proclaimed confidently. He went on to mention a number of SmackDown Superstars he believed might be contenders for the championship, such as Gunther, Finn Balor, Royce Keyes, Damian Priest, and Trick Williams. Zayn’s name came up too, as Punk noted he could potentially seek a rematch.

Although Rhodes’s presence was unexpected, he made a bold entrance into the ring. Punk told him, “I don’t think you and I can run away from each other anymore.” Rhodes responded affirmatively but asked when the match would take place. Punk’s swift reply of “When,” led to SmackDown’s General Manager, Nick Aldis, finalizing a match for SummerSlam.

Punk is set to defend his Undisputed WWE Championship at SummerSlam on August 1st and 2nd at U.S. Bank Stadium in Minneapolis. However, before that, he and Rhodes will join forces for a tag team match next week at Saturday Night’s Main Event in New York City. Aldis got involved after Gunther expressed a desire to face Punk. Instead of getting the match he wanted, Gunther will be teaming up with Zayn.

Gunther didn’t take the news well and ended up attacking Aldis. Rhodes, coming back to fix the situation, wanted to square off against Gunther after the show, but the latter left the scene.

Punk’s transition to SmackDown is characterized by his determination to be a fighting champion, and it seems he has quite a lineup of challenges ahead.
