CNN anchor Abby D. Phillips on Wednesday tried to justify the presidential debate moderators' failure to fact-check former President Donald Trump and Vice President Kamala Harris despite her numerous lies.
“FYI: When there are asymmetric lies, there is asymmetric fact-checking,” Abby D. Phillips posted on X.
Her post came in response to criticism from the right over ABC News hosts David Muir and Lindsey Davis' frequent fact-checking of Trump and allowing Harris to make false statements.
Breitbart News reporter Alana Mastangero compiled a list of 21 lies Harris told during the debate. Despite this, Breitbart News reporter Joel Pollack said the moderators tried to fact-check Trump at least seven times, but Harris never did.
CNN's Daniel Dale then claimed that Trump had told at least 33 lies, while Harris had only told “at least one.”
