CNN had to correct Harris surrogate on air after getting JD Vance’s military record wildly wrong

Sen. Tina Smith (D-MN) made a major gaffe while talking about the military history of Republican vice presidential nominee Sen. J.D. Vance, forcing CNN host Jim Acosta to correct her on air.

“Now, we have Tim Waltz here, he enlisted at 17 and served in the National Guard for 24 years. And I don’t know that J.D. Vance ever served. So let’s compare,” Smith said.

“Well, he was a Marine,” Acosta interjected.

“I think that’s embarrassing.”

“Okay, excuse me,” Smith replied.

Vance not only served in the Marines, but also deployed to Iraq.

There was a lot of criticism of Waltz’s military record. panel In an interview with CNN, he reported that this could be a 2024 version of John Kerry’s “Swiftboating.”
